One Troll Bikini Away From Being Crazy

I was going to give my trolls some love on the blog this past week and then I saw this was on "My Crazy Obsession"

I had my mom record it since I am too cheap and don't have time for cable.

I think the only difference between us is I don't buy trolls online and I never have worn a troll bikini. I do have clothing with trolls and I'm pretty sure my husband has opened  the freezer door to find a troll chillin'. In my defense, I was told at some point if you find one of those little bugs in mohair you can't wash it so putting it in the freezer for a day or two will kill the bugs and eggs. They are not permanent residents.
The best part is towards the end when she is trying to convince her husband for troll space in the basement. hehe, so funny.

Here is what I had hung up a few days before this aired:

I bought a whole box of these posters for $1 sometime in the early 90's after the craze ended. I recently found a stack of poster frames for free and one happened to fit so up it went in the troll room, er, the office.

I need to reorganize my shelves and there are little shelves and trolls all over this room so they are not just contained to this wall.

And yes, I do have my trolls catalogued with descriptions and where I got them. I started when I was 9 so I'm on top of that part of the crazy. I don't have photos. Maybe I should start?

My family of Billys

What other backed up blog stories were trapped on my old cameras? I thought I had the USB cords tucked in with the old cameras but no such luck. I'm not sure what these USB cords go with or where my old camera cords are and the only way to get to my pictures was via Mark's computer and then onto a USB drive. Needless to say I was too lazy. I hadn't used one of my cards for years and found zoo pictures and all kinds of weird (uninteresting) things on it.

Yes, that is a trolley parked next to my car at my old pre-married life apartment. I guess I was entertained by this scene enough to take a photo.

Anyways, back to Billy. I did mention my Ikea haul briefly...months ago.

The crib still isn't put together yet but my Billys sure are!

This is my troll corner previously with my single lonely Billy and a couple of wimpy Target specials plus other odds and ends.

Another angle.

Tadaa! Three new Billys! It almost looks less impressive though definitely more organized. Unfortunately, I have to open the closet door or else my fourth one would also fit which leads to where did the old Billy go with the fancy doors?
I was going to buy matching doors for each Billy but, of course, they discontinued my glass doors! This was traumatic to say the least so I lost all train of thought and accidentally bought one too many Billys forgetting I couldn't turn the corner with them because (in some people's minds) getting to the light switch is more important than troll display space?

I measured around and found I could replace this stumpy little bookcase with...

A tall Billy and fill it with lots of stuff!!

Most? Some? of my Dream Pet/Dream Pet wannabe collection got to escape the confines of their box in my closet.

Also, what is this?
Yes, a shelf with Steiffs? (and a few odds and ends) so I actually do have a collection with some value? Hmm, that is unusual for me. I'm not sure how it happened. I will say I have had that Ty beanie bear pre-beanie craze (it was free with purchase at a doll shop) and I believe at some point he was going for several thousand dollars? but for some reason selling it did not cross my mind. I didn't even collect them! I don't know what I was/was not thinking! But now I guess I have the story and maybe $50 if I do decide to part with him.

This little guy is showing just how I feel so it must be close to bed time...9:30 on a Friday night....

Just Out For a Walk with My Giant Troll Doll

I guess I am going through garage sale withdrawal. I came across an ad Saturday which was titled Estate Liquidation! They stated they had bought out 7 estates last month and will be getting rid of everything priced .50 to $50!!! Well, that was the basic idea of the ad anyways. I figured it was a bit of an exaggeration but 7 estates? Surely there is something of interest to look at!? I was correct about the exaggeration. I'm pretty sure 1/4 of my "estate" is more than they were selling but my brother spotted this guy as soon as we walked in so it wasn't a waste of time.

He was $10 but is huge at over 16" and he is made by Dam so I'm sure he was very expensive 20-ish years ago when he was new. Now, maybe he is worth the $10 I paid? Especially since his bright yellow shirt was mostly eaten away by a mouse. But he obviously needed adopted plus I wanted to freak out Mark when he got home by sitting this guy on the couch.
Upon purchase the seller asked if I wanted a bag. Nah, I don't need to waste plastic. Then I remembered we had parked a block away from the shop in a busy downtown area.  I got a few odd stares but meh, I'll assume they promptly forgot. If I had been holding a conversation or dancing with him maybe it would have stuck in their memory better.

He looks happy to be amongst some other freakishly large friends and is probably the cutest of the bunch...if one can consider trolls cute that is.

Home Invasion

All of my cute mid-century Better Homes and Gardens say nothing about being invaded by ants. Of course not, I'm sure those nifty suburban homes never had ants! They never had dirty laundry or dirty dishes either, right?
I came home from work yesterday, walked into the kitchen to pour myself a refreshing glass of water and Agh! The sink! It was full of ants!! Fortunately only two rinsed breakfast bowls were the victims so it wasn't too bad and none of our food is stored nearby. They hadn't ventured into the pantry yet, whew! I was thinking about taking a picture but it was pretty disgusting and I didn't really want to relive this moment again.
I have nothing against ants but I do when they are crawling around my house so a bunch got washed down the sink. I learned a cheap and easy way to stop these critters while living in our basement apartment. Borax and Syrup. Mwahaha. Borax costs like $3 for a giant box in the laundry section and it doesn't take more than a teaspoon. Plus it is a bit like Baking Soda so it does have multiple cleaning uses around the house without stinking stuff up with toxic fumes. And syrup, everyone has sugary syrup. Just pour some syrup on a small scrap of cardboard, mix in some Borax and the ants are all over it, collecting it and bringing it home with them. It works similar to the official chemical ant poisons but at a small, small fraction of the price. I sprayed the rest of the area down with vinegar so they lost their track to the sink. It usually takes a couple of days but this morning I only saw one ant. WooHoo.

We had another invasion this week as some of my trolls finally got to escape their boxes!

Yay, my first set of troll shelves is up and running. Oddly, the most fascinating thing to people is my chain of Cincinnati clippy trolls. Lets just say there was a lot of left over store stock when the troll craze ended in the 90's which I fully took advantage of with the help of my mom. I think I paid $1 for all of those guys plus 2 cute ropes with a round cardboard troll toppers to display them with. I'm not really a Cincinnati fan and apparently neither was anyone else!

The tall one in the back I got when I was about 10 and my mom paid either $20, maybe $30 for it at an auction. One of her arch nemesis' was bidding against her so she got all flustered and was bound and determined not to let her have it! I was horrified (despite the fact it benefited my collection) and I felt guilty because I though she paid way too much for it! I think I have seen only one since and it was priced way higher plus we do have a good laugh about it on occasion.

Troll Barbie in all of her 90's glory.

Ahh, vintage Moon trolls. They creep everyone out, teehee.

A huge troll cave couple. A normal size troll is in the lower right.

The teacher troll with the molded on molester-stache is probably one of my favorites. I don't know why except it makes me laugh whenever I look at it.
